3 Reasons why One Punch Man season 3 is getting so late!
One Punch Man fans have been wondering about these questions for very long now, havent they?
- Potential reasons for being late,
- When will we get an announcement?
- When will season 3 come out?
One Punch Man’s creation started in 2009 when ONE self-published this web-comic series on the Japanese manga website Nitosha.net.
Later, the manga remake of One Punch Man was illustrated by Yusuke Murata. It has been published on Shueisha’s “Tonari no Young Jump” website since June 14, 2012. The chapters are periodically collected and published in ‘tankÅbon’ volumes. The first volume was published on December 12, 2012.
On March 10 2015, an anime adaptation of the same was announced in the 15th issue of “Weekly Young Jump”, which later went on to become one of the most interesting and praised animes of its time!
Season 1 was a huge hit and although season 2 didn’t deliver as expected by the fans, it was certainly a successful one. But after season 2’s airing in 2019, there has been no major news about the continuation of the anime…
Fans expected the return of the bald hero and his cyborg disciple in 2020 itself, but who knew that this year would mark the starting of a terrible pandemic that will halt everything across the globe! Here are the 3 reasons that I think is making us wait for the return of our beloved Saitama:
Reason 1
Number 1 reason has to be the pandemic which made the people, institutions and even the government to stop working for a while. Almost all the animation studios had to stop working during this pandemic as its wild flame were taking lives and livelihoods from people around the world.
Reason 2
This is the reason that I am rooting-for the most!
One Punch Man season 1, a huge hit of its time, was liked by the masses and was praised for its interesting storyline and the unique MC. But season 2, on the other hand, was criticized badly by both fans and the critiques for poor animation and the overall execution.
The first season was directed by Shingo Natsume at Madhouse animation studio and written by Tomohiro Suzuki. A second season was confirmed in September 2016. On September 25, 2017, it was announced that One Punch Man would be changing both its production company and director. The second season was animated by J.C.Staff, with Chikara Sakurai replacing Shingo Natsume as director and Yoshikazu Iwanami replacing Shoji Hata as sound director. And this was not a change for better.
So now, maybe the team is thinking of making some more changes without rushing so that they can rise to early glory of the One Punch Man anime.
Reason 3
Reason 3 is just a popular opinion which might actually be true. The team behind One Punch Man is waiting for the ongoing arc to finish so that they have enough content to be animated and released.
Release date
It took 4 years after the first season for the second season to be released. Season 1 broadcasted from October to December 2015 and season 2 from April to July 2019. While season 2 got delayed mainly due to the change in animation team, season 3 might get delayed due to any or all of the 3 reasons mentioned above. So after a lot of discussions, reading and research I reached at the conclusion that we can expect an announcement around mid 2022 and we might get the anime towards the end of 2022 or in early 2023. (Totally an assumption)
I think after writing reason you should write the reason, ex: "Reason 1: Pandemic".
